About The Position

DeepCure is seeking an innovative and highly motivated Laboratory Automation Engineer/Specialist to join our newly founded Israel team and to support the formation of our Molecular Foundry.

In this role, you will support the buildout and operation of our new automated laboratory that spans chemistry and screening. These platforms will be pivotal in accelerating our rapidly growing portfolio of Drug Discovery projects. You will be responsible for developing automated scientific processes and work alongside software engineers and scientists to enable an end-to-end integrated workflow. You will have the opportunity to use the latest state-of-the-art equipment and technologies to deliver and innovate in this space.

We are currently building our DeepCure Israel team, which will be based in the Rehovot Science Park, to establish and run the lab operations in our cutting-edge automated lab. The Israeli team will collaborate closely with our global team on the exciting challenges on our way to revolutionizing the drug discovery industry. 

Requirements

Basic requirements:

  • BS or MS in Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or a related discipline with 2+ years of hands-on experience developing methods and troubleshooting laboratory automation
  • Expertise in operating, maintaining, and programming laboratory instrumentation such as automated liquid handlers and high throughput automation
  • Demonstrated analytical skills including experience in problem-solving, troubleshooting, and recommending solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English 
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a global and diverse team of internal and external co-workers
  • Creative approach to solving challenging problems

Preferred requirements:

  • Excitement about the vision and mission of DeepCure to redefine drug discovery through innovation
  • Background and experience in drug discovery particularly chemistry and/or biology
  • A proven track record of approaching and solving complex problems
  • Expertise in developing methods for automated liquid handlers (preferably Tecan Fluent)
  • Experience working on large integrated automation systems and experimental workflow development 
  • Comfortable with at least one major programming language, e.g. Python, C#, Java, etc.
  • Experience and passion for working in high-performing teams

Responsibilities

  • Develop liquid handling methods on automated liquid handlers to enable the synthesis and screening of small molecules generated from our AI platform
  • Work with technical lead to develop and implement automation solutions spanning automated chemistry, purification, and screening
  • Routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation
  • Collaborate with vendors for the support, troubleshooting, and repair of laboratory instruments
  • Write standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Train automation users on workflows and best practices
  • Validation and QC of automated protocols
